Golf Putters

Walk into any golf store and you’ll likely find a wide range of putters in stock. Variations in design are more common with a putter than any other club. Most of the variation appears in the head of the putter.

•Blade- type putters feature a thin head, less than an inch front-to-back. They provide good accuracy but can be less forgiving than other types.

•Mallet style putters have a much wider and longer head – they are a little more forgiving if you tend to hit off-center.

The best way to find out what putter is right for you is to try it out. Find a putter that you are comfortable and confident using. The mechanics of putting are fairly simple and the club’s type, material and cost don’t matter as much as you might think. The point is to get the ball where you want it and if you can putt effectively with a $45 putter there is no need to spend $700.
